Description
The U.S. Geological Survey seeks paired bulk mineralogy and detailed clay analyses by X-ray diffraction for 58 rock samples in each analysis category. The work includes sample preparation, XRD measurement, data interpretation, and reporting: bulk quantification of crystalline phases and amorphous content, plus clay-fraction quantification of clay mineral species. Deliverables include the procedures used and all data in spreadsheet format, due within two months after the samples are received. The notice states that the agency intends to award to QMinerals because it considers that laboratory the only commercially available source able to meet data-continuity requirements. Other vendors with comparable technical expertise and capability were invited to express interest by the stated response deadline.
