Description
Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide one-on-one private music instruction to socioeconomically disadvantaged students in grades 4–12 who are enrolled in District ensemble music classes. Instruction may include voice, woodwinds, brass, percussion, violin, viola, cello, and bass, and must be tailored to each student's age, experience, needs, and musical goals. Lessons will generally be 45 minutes, with authorized 30-minute lessons also permitted, and students may receive up to 18 lessons during the program period. Lessons must generally occur at the vendor's facility outside the regular school day. Vendors must coordinate with families, maintain attendance and instructional records, submit invoices, and comply with student-safety, fingerprinting, tuberculosis, training, confidentiality, and other District requirements. The District intends to establish a pool of multiple qualified vendors, with no guaranteed student assignments, lesson volume, or revenue. Compensation is established at $70 per instructional hour, prorated by lesson duration.
