The City of Charleston is soliciting quotes for a one-time purchase and installation of fully automatic, source-capture diesel exhaust extraction systems at nine Charleston Fire Department locations. The scope includes demolition and disposal of existing exhaust-removal equipment; sliding flex hose track assemblies; exhaust fans; wireless auto-start control panels; tailpipe adapters; ductwork, fittings, hangers, and support legs; electrical wiring and safety disconnects; wall penetrations where required; shipping; installation labor; system start-up and testing; and training for City and fire department staff. The systems must capture exhaust from apparatus start-up through the station door threshold and include 27 tailpipe adapter assemblies for the CFD vehicle fleet. Bidders may propose named equipment or approved equivalents that meet or exceed the specifications and must provide manufacturer specifications and performance data for proposed alternatives. The selected vendor must complete installation at all nine locations within 182 calendar days after receipt of a purchase order. The procurement is funded in whole or in part by a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant and includes federal compliance requirements, including Build America, Buy America requirements and a vendor self-certification.
