The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking bids for orientation and mobility services for individuals served who have vision impairment at the Richmond State Supported Living Center (RSSLC). The services required include working with individuals to achieve safe travel independently, providing training to staff on safe transport and escorting of individuals with visual impairments, and conducting patient evaluations. The contractor will also need to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, attend support plan meetings, and submit service reports. Adherence to the practice rules and regulations of the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) and facility policies is required. Contractors must have at least one year of experience as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and be certified through ACVREP. Bidders must also provide a minimum of three verifiable references for similar contracts within the last five years. Services are to be performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time, with a minimum commitment of one day (8 hours total) per week.
