Description
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is soliciting a contractor for a short-term abandoned mine land cleanup project in Pike County. The work will restore driveway access for two homes, remove rock, debris, coal refuse, and slide material from a residential yard, and haul the material approximately 2.9 miles to a previously used reclaimed waste site. The project also includes cleaning and re-establishing a ditch above the driveway, installing a temporary sump and silt trap, and installing a debris barrier to prevent further damage. The project limits cover approximately 1.85 acres, with an offsite waste area of approximately 9.35 acres; the stated duration is substantial completion plus 60 calendar days for final completion. No trees over 3 inches DBH will be removed, and no streams or waterways will be impacted. Permanent reclamation work is planned as a separate follow-up project.
