Description
The City of Fort Myers is soliciting construction services for an approximately 1.83-mile, 12-foot-wide asphalt shared-use trail extension from south of Colonial Boulevard to Hanson Street. The work includes grading, drainage, asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks, signage, thermoplastic pavement markings, utility fixture adjustments, sewer pump-out removal, erosion and sediment controls, landscaping, and related maintenance-of-traffic measures. Major structural work includes a 912-foot multi-span prestressed concrete bridge and a 215-foot prefabricated steel truss span over Colonial Boulevard, a 139-foot prefabricated steel truss bridge over the Ten Mile Canal, driven prestressed concrete piles, mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, pedestrian and bicycle railings, architectural bridge aesthetics, and rubble riprap or fabric-formed concrete canal armoring. The prime contractor must hold active Florida Department of Transportation prequalification in Intermediate Bridges (Class 17) and self-perform at least 40% of the total contract amount. The solicitation requires the bidder to include a 5% bid bond or certified cashier's check and to submit the response electronically through the OpenGov bid portal.
