Description
The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is soliciting proposals for comprehensive engineering design services to evaluate and replace the HVAC systems serving its Headquarters Building and Central Laboratory Building. The scope includes document review, field investigations, airflow testing by an independent certified testing, adjusting, and balancing firm, existing-condition evaluations, load calculations, separate Basis of Design reports, equipment replacement recommendations, redundancy analysis, energy-performance considerations, and coordination with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, plumbing, fire-protection, and controls systems. The selected consultant will prepare 30%, 60%, 90%, and final bid-ready design and construction documents; permit packages; cost estimates; construction phasing, schedule, strategy, and outage plans; bid and award support; engineering services during construction; commissioning services under a $50,000 allowance; operations and maintenance manuals; and staff training. Designs must support uninterrupted laboratory operations, laboratory safety, environmental controls, accreditation requirements, and continued operation of sensitive equipment. The District's stated budget range is $600,000 to $700,000, including contingencies, allowances, and estimated costs. The proposal requires a 20% SBE participation goal, with SBE and VBE certifications recognized toward the goal.
