Description
Chesterfield County is soliciting sealed bids for construction of a replacement mining headstock replica at Midlothian Mines Park. The work includes field verification of existing foundations, base plates, dimensions, and elevations; removal and welding of new knife plates to existing steel base plates; fabrication and erection of a heavy timber headstock; fabrication and installation of custom stainless-steel connection plates, threaded rods, through-bolts, and related hardware; copper flashing and wood-preservative treatments; and refurbishment and reinstallation of existing winder wheels. The project is a single-prime stipulated-price construction contract. Bidders must have completed at least three similar projects, hold a Class A Virginia contractor license with a Commercial Building Contractor specialty, and submit a 5% bid bond or acceptable certified/cashier's check. The selected contractor must complete the work within 180 calendar days after receiving the Notice to Proceed. A performance bond and labor and material payment bond, each for 100% of the contract price, are required if the bid price exceeds $500,000.
