Description
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is soliciting applications for Round 4 of its Regional School Food Infrastructure Grant Program. Eligible applicants include registered nonprofit organizations, local municipalities, school districts, and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services. Projects must serve multiple school districts, support the local community, and include workforce development, training, and/or community-use elements. Eligible projects are capital projects involving construction, renovation, alteration, rehabilitation, improvement, installation, acquisition, repair, or replacement of buildings, equipment, or permanent facilities supporting the preparation and distribution of New York-focused meals. Examples include aggregation facilities, storage hubs, and commissary-type kitchens. Applicants may request exactly $5,000,000 per proposal and must provide matching funds of at least five percent of total project costs. Applications must be submitted through the Statewide Financial System Grants Management System. The application includes online program-specific questions, a work plan, a budget, and a business plan submitted as a PDF attachment. The business plan must address the project introduction, regional and market analysis, team and beneficiary schools, farm partners, a five-year implementation timeline, and financial summary. Applicants must also submit commitment letters from participating farmers and schools, the Vending and Backhauling Acknowledgement Form, and an MWBE Utilization Plan. The project term is five years beginning March 1, 2027.
