Description
The Maryland Transit Administration is soliciting construction services to create communications connectivity between Hamburg Station, the North Avenue Maintenance Facility, instrument houses, traction power substations, station equipment cabinets, and the Operations Control Center. The work includes installing pathways and new fiber optic cable, splicing drop cables into an existing aerial 144-strand cable on the catenaries, routing the drop cables through pathways, terminating the strands, and testing each strand end to end. The existing 84-strand fiber optic cable has reached the end of its service life and will remain in place as a backup. Reconfiguration of the existing fiber and equipment is excluded. The project cost class is $1,000,000 to $2,500,000, and the solicitation is an invitation for bid.
