Description
The project calls for repair and rehabilitation of the corroded steel plate supporting the library's brick relief at the third-floor elevation. Work includes selective removal and temporary support of brick, cutting back and repairing existing steel, installing new galvanized steel plate where indicated, and restoring the brick and building-envelope components. Related work includes flashing, air-barrier and insulation tie-ins, masonry repairs, sealant replacement in designated areas, and cleaning and coating exposed steel. An alternate adds soffit repairs and additional control-joint and window-sealant replacement across the remaining exterior facades. The bid is for a single-prime general construction contractor and includes a base bid, an alternate, and a unit price for brick repointing. The project documents specify a minimum of five years in business, at least five similar completed projects, and that the contractor perform at least 50% of the work with its own employees. The stated construction cost range is $500,000 to $600,000. Performance, payment, and maintenance bonds and a certificate of insurance are required with the awarded contract, not with the bid.
