Description
The City of Denison is requesting proposals for independent financial and compliance auditing services for fiscal years 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028. The work must comply with U.S. generally accepted auditing standards, Government Auditing Standards, applicable Iowa reporting requirements, the Single Audit Act, and Uniform Guidance when applicable. The audit will cover the City's general, special revenue, debt service, capital projects, permanent, proprietary, and internal service funds, as well as applicable state and federal funds. The selected auditor will assist with the City's Annual Financial Report, issue opinions on the financial statements and supplemental schedules, review internal controls, report apparent weaknesses, and provide a separate management letter with recommendations. The engagement also includes deliverables in bound and electronic formats, an electronic submission to the Iowa Auditor of State upon release, detailed billing information, and a news release. Proposals must include a letter of transmittal, completion timetable, firm qualifications and similar audit experience, staffing plan and resumes, quality-control information, Iowa registration and independence statements, records-retention acknowledgment, and a three-year fee proposal with hourly rates and billing information. The City anticipates selecting a firm by October 6, 2026.
