The Water Replenishment District of Southern California (District) has adopted Resolution No. 26-1271 to levy a replenishment assessment on groundwater production within the District for fiscal year July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The assessment funds the purchase of replenishment water, operation of capital projects, and removal of contaminants from groundwater supplies. The District's groundwater replenishment program is an ongoing project exempt from CEQA under Guidelines Section 15261(a) as it commenced prior to November 23, 1970. An Environmental Impact Report and several Negative Declarations have been prepared for the program, and the 2026-2027 assessment is within the scope of those documents. The assessment rate is $606 per acre-foot for replenishment and $56 per acre-foot for contaminant removal, totaling $662 per acre-foot of groundwater pumped (excluding storage withdrawals).
