Description
The Department of Energy is soliciting research and development proposals across four topic areas: field-based enhanced recovery from unconventional oil and gas reservoirs; fracture propagation, proppant behavior, and well diagnostics; carbon dioxide enhanced oil and gas recovery; and advanced field testing of multi-scale produced water treatment technologies and processes. Proposed technologies should generally advance from Technology Readiness Level 5 to at least Level 7 and include field deployment or validation in a relevant U.S. environment with an operating industry partner. The opportunity anticipates up to $150,000,000 in federal funding, with individual topic-area awards generally capped between $12,000,000 and $20,000,000 in federal funds. Most topic areas require at least 20% cost sharing, and projects are expected to run for approximately 60 months with multiple budget periods and Go/No-Go reviews. Applications must include technical and management materials, a Statement of Project Objectives, Project Management Plan, budget materials, required federal forms and disclosures, letters of intent or commitment from industry partners, and supporting technical documentation.
