Description
The Saint Louis Zoo seeks vendors to supply whole insect prey for animal consumption under a non-exclusive Vendor of Record agreement. Requested products include several sizes of crickets, mealworms, superworms, waxworms, nightcrawlers and red wigglers, and hornworms. Estimated annual quantities are provided for planning, but are not guaranteed minimum purchases; orders will be issued at the Zoo’s discretion. Vendors must submit pricing by product and account for delivery, shipping, packaging, fuel surcharges, minimum orders, and expedited or off-day delivery premiums. Products must arrive in good condition without contamination and meet the stated safety, hygiene, traceability, and colony-health expectations. The Zoo prefers gut-loaded insects but will consider non-gut-loaded products. Vendors must hold permits needed to ship live invertebrates across state lines, use insulated packaging with seasonal heat or cold packs, and support supply continuity, replacement of missing or rejected items, and off-day deliveries when needed. The initial term is two years, with up to two additional one-year renewals by mutual written agreement. The proposal must include product quality and animal-health practices, delivery reliability and supply continuity, three references with contact information, the completed pricing form, and certifications.
