Description
This notice concerns the proposed reissuance of a Land Application Permit (ND0077828) for Becky Dennis Kiawah Island Utility, Inc./CUC INC's Spring Island WWTP facility. The facility, located at 262 Spring Island Drive in Okatie, Beaufort County, South Carolina, operates a lagoon system that land applies treated wastewater via spray irrigation onto 37 acres of adjacent golf course land. The permit allows for the land application of wastewater only, with sludge disposal occurring via transport to other approved facilities. Key changes in the proposed permit reissuance include the removal of ammonia from the list of required groundwater monitoring parameters and an update to an annual groundwater monitoring frequency. The permit will supersede an existing permit expiring on July 31, 2026, and includes five groundwater monitoring wells. The facility utilizes spray irrigation on eight sprayfields totaling 37 acres for wastewater application.
