Description
The Town of Newton is seeking proposals and qualifications from a New Jersey-licensed attorney to serve as Municipal Prosecutor for its Municipal Court during the 2027 town year. The selected attorney must be a New Jersey resident, licensed and practicing in New Jersey, a current member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar Association, and have at least five years of experience. The scope includes evaluating and prosecuting cases, conferring with law enforcement, assisting with or providing opinions on arrest and search warrants, representing the State in conviction-motion hearings, preparing plea agreements, and providing accessibility to the Municipal Court Judge and law enforcement agencies as needed. Court sessions are held every Monday, with morning and afternoon sessions, and may include an additional half-day occasionally. Proposals must include a fixed fee proposal for the 2027 town year, an executive summary of no more than two pages, five references, relevant experience and qualifications, education and licensure information, professional affiliations, conflicts disclosures, litigation or disciplinary disclosures, and required compliance forms.
