The National Park Service intends to issue a Request for Proposal for construction services to repair, stabilize, and preserve Chalmette National Cemetery at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The work includes cleaning, straightening, raising, realigning, and replacing grave markers; conservation of monuments and historic features; rehabilitation of gates, iron fencing, and perimeter brick walls; grading and stormwater-management improvements; restoration of historic plantings, tree canopy, turf, and cultural landscape features; and rehabilitation of walkways. The project also includes improvements to visitor access and experience, including seating, interpretive elements, circulation, and parking. Work must comply with National Park Service historic-preservation standards and preserve the cemetery’s historic integrity. The forthcoming procurement is anticipated to be a firm-fixed-price contract with a 730-calendar-day period of performance from notice to proceed. It is currently unfunded, with funding anticipated to become available before award. The formal solicitation will contain the proposal-submission instructions and is expected to be issued electronically.
