Description
The University of Alabama is soliciting sealed bids from prequalified general contractors and prime demolition contractors for improvements to its 431 Reed Street property. The scope includes demolition of the existing structure, basement excavation and backfill, site grading, lighting, security, and miscellaneous site improvements. The proposed budget is $110,000. Contractors must prequalify before bidding or performing work unless they are already on the university's prequalification master list. Prequalification submissions and waiver requests are due by 5:00 PM local time on September 8, 2026, and prequalification results are scheduled for September 11, 2026. A mandatory pre-bid conference for general contractors will be held on September 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time and will continue to the job site. Sealed bids are due by 2:00 PM local time on September 24, 2026. Bid security is required with each bid, and bidders must meet Alabama licensing requirements and display their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope. Plans and specifications may be obtained from Duncan Coker Associates, P.C., for a refundable deposit of $150 per set.
