UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a strategic planning partner to develop a comprehensive five-year enterprise strategy and executable strategic plan. The engagement will assess the institution’s current position, external environment, peer and aspirational benchmarks, strategic risks, financial sustainability, organizational structure, partnerships, research and educational missions, and opportunities involving artificial intelligence, data, and digital capabilities. The work will cover the medical school’s academic pillars, research enterprise, clinical-academic alignment, financial and infrastructure strategy, people and culture, public impact, and relationships with affiliated organizations and the broader university system. Expected deliverables include a project workplan and governance structure; current-state and external-environment assessment; strategic alternatives and preliminary enterprise imperatives; a board-ready strategic framework by the November 12 board-materials deadline; leadership workshops and retreats; a final five-year strategic plan; an implementation and execution roadmap; a first-year action plan; and an AI, data, and technology enablement roadmap. The anticipated engagement is approximately six months, with an October 2026 contract start. Proposals must address firm qualifications, key personnel, methodology, project schedule, fixed fees and billing rates, relevant sample work, and three similar higher-education or healthcare references.
