Description
Valley Metro Rail, Inc. intends to award a sole-source contract to Kinkisharyo International, LLC for the repair and restoration of light rail vehicle 142, which was damaged in a collision and derailment on December 30, 2025. The work includes repairing extensive structural damage to the A-end operator cab and articulation areas, disassembling and reassembling the vehicle as needed, and restoring it to original equipment manufacturer standards for structural integrity, safety, and operational reliability. The notice states that Kinkisharyo is the original equipment manufacturer and the only company identified as having the necessary information, engineering resources, specialized equipment, and parts. Vendors may submit information electronically that refutes the sole-source determination.
