Description
The Serve New Mexico Commission is soliciting applications for planning grants to help eligible organizations develop an AmeriCorps program for a future operational grant competition. Planning activities may include hiring a consultant, training and technical assistance, designing member activities and recruitment, developing data collection systems and performance measures, researching evidence-based models, and selecting host sites. Applicants must budget for a staff member or consultant to manage the planning period, with at least one full-time employee spending 75% of their time on the grant. Planning grants do not fund AmeriCorps members or costs associated with writing an AmeriCorps application. Awards are cost-reimbursement grants capped at $250,000, with a six-month project period and an option to amend it to 12 months from the project start date. Applicants must provide a 24% match through cash or in-kind contributions. Applications require three narrative components—Program Design, Organizational Review, and Budget Narrative—within an eight-page narrative limit, plus the Planning Grant Cover Page and Budget Worksheet. Applications are evaluated on program design, organizational capacity, and budget narrative; the scoring matrix is included in the solicitation package.
