Description
NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) intends to modify the existing sole-source contract 80JSC022DA022, Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services (xEVAS), with Axiom Space, Inc. This modification will add CLIN 5, which covers the production and delivery of hardware essential for Extravehicular Activity (EVA) integration, testing, training, and mission execution. The new CLIN 5 will run concurrently with the current contract's period of performance, which extends to May 30, 2032, and will not increase the contract's overall maximum value. The scope of the modification includes the delivery of xEVA system hardware and software, subsystems, components, parts, ground support equipment (GSE), test support equipment (TSE), test articles, sustaining spares, refurbishment kits, and maintenance, sustainment, and repair/replacement items. As Axiom Space is the original equipment manufacturer and the only contractor currently developing a lunar-capable xEVA system, NASA has determined that modifying the existing contract on a sole-source basis is necessary to avoid substantial duplication of costs, unacceptable delays, and incompatibility with the current system design. This ensures alignment with the agency's architecture and technical baseline for future exploration missions, including those beyond low-earth orbit.
