Description
The City of Watsonville is soliciting bids for the installation, maintenance, monitoring, repair, and seasonal removal of holiday lighting and decorations at Civic Plaza and City Plaza during the 2026–2028 holiday seasons. The work includes lighting shrub planters, trees, cannons, and a gazebo; decorating large redwood trees with commercial-grade ornaments and LED star toppers; securing displays; and installing weather-resistant electrical connections that minimize water intrusion and trip hazards. The contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and necessary permits and licenses. The contractor will coordinate with City staff regarding decor selection and electrical access, perform regular monitoring and timely repairs, and complete assigned work within 30 working days of notification. The base bid covers the 2026 season, with four add alternates covering comparable plaza and redwood-tree work for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The engineer’s estimate is $40,000 per year. A California Class C-10 electrical contractor’s license and active California Department of Industrial Relations public-works registration are required. The solicitation requires electronic submission through the City’s OpenGov procurement portal.
