Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to issue an invitation for bid for Element 2 of the Lower Brule North Shoreline Stabilization and Ecosystem Restoration project. The construction scope includes a 100-foot-wide riparian planting bench, a gravel maintenance path along the project reach, and creation of a 200-by-1,500-foot island in Reach 4 of the lake in water up to three feet deep. The island will be planted with cottonwood trees and other culturally significant vegetation. The project also includes installation of a riprap revetment to protect the island from wind, wave action, and ice erosion, with anticipated creation of approximately 5.17 acres of emergent wetland and roughly 32 acres of riparian habitat. The estimated construction cost is $10 million to $25 million. Performance and payment bonds will be required, and the contractor must complete the work within 450 days after receiving the notice to proceed. The opportunity is a 100% small-business set-aside; contractors must maintain active, verified registration in the System for Award Management and include the applicable NAICS code in their profile.
