Description
The City seeks a contractor for a public works project involving demolition and repair or replacement of sidewalks, concrete curbs and gutters, driveway approaches, cross gutters, and ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps. Work also includes grinding raised sidewalk lips, removing asphalt and existing trees or stumps, planting and maintaining 15-gallon trees, landscaping cleanup and reseeding, relocating signs, and demolishing and capping a water fountain. Excavation, hauling and disposal, erosion and sediment controls, and traffic control are also included. The bid is a lump-sum construction contract with two base bids. The specifications state completion periods of 155 working days for Base Bid No. 1 and 25 working days for Base Bid No. 2, plus a 180-calendar-day tree establishment and maintenance period. A 10% bid bond is required; the successful bidder must provide 100% performance and payment bonds. The prime contractor must self-perform at least 30% of the work. A five-percent local business preference applies, subject to the stated eligibility criteria.
