Description
The Town of Camp Verde is seeking Statements of Qualifications from qualified legal professionals to serve as the Town Magistrate for the Camp Verde Municipal Court. The selected candidate will preside over court proceedings, oversee court administration, and ensure the fair, impartial, and efficient administration of justice in accordance with Arizona law, Town Code, and Arizona Supreme Court requirements. Key responsibilities include presiding over criminal misdemeanor, civil traffic, parking, and code enforcement matters; conducting hearings, trials, and other judicial proceedings; exercising all powers and duties granted to municipal court judges; maintaining judicial integrity; preparing monthly reports and annual budget requests; supervising court personnel; and coordinating with various legal and law enforcement agencies. Minimum qualifications include eligibility to serve as a municipal court judge under Arizona law, a minimum of five years of legal experience with substantial experience in criminal law, municipal law, or judicial service, demonstrated knowledge of Arizona criminal law and municipal court practices, and the ability to manage court operations effectively. Prior service as a municipal court judge, justice of the peace, commissioner, hearing officer, or judge pro tempore is preferred.
