Description
The Winchester Retirement Board is soliciting proposals for secondary legal counsel. The selected attorney or law firm must have demonstrated experience representing Massachusetts public retirement boards, with a strong understanding of General Laws Chapter 32, 840 Code of Massachusetts Regulations, and ancillary laws such as the Massachusetts Public Records Law, Ethics Law, and Open Meeting Law. The Board oversees the Town of Winchester Retirement System, managing approximately $207 million in assets for over 1700 active and retired employees and beneficiaries. Proposals should detail relevant legal experience, including a list of Massachusetts retirement board clients, and address any potential conflicts of interest. The submission must also include the qualifications of the primary attorney(s), fee structures, and a certification of professional liability insurance. Experience with appeals to the Contributory Retirement Appeal Board and Massachusetts Courts is required.
