The City of Rockford is soliciting bids to furnish and install one new natural-gas emergency generator at Fire Station 8, located at 505 Sherman Street, and to remove, relocate, and install the existing generator at the Newburg Road transmitter site, located at 4316 Newburg Road. The new installation must include a minimum 6-inch concrete pad, electrical wiring and conduit, a building-service-rated automatic transfer switch, CT cabinet connections, gas piping, utility coordination, ComEd service-amperage upgrades, directional boring and utility locates where applicable, landscape restoration, permits, and basic site drawings. The scope also includes one day of on-site startup testing, a minimum four-hour load-bank test, personnel training, manuals and product specification sheets, and a one-year warranty on parts, labor, and service. The contractor must provide 24/7 emergency service with arrival within one hour of a call-out and maintain a full parts and service facility within 25 miles of the City's Central Garage. Acceptable generator brands include Kohler, Cat, Cummins, or an approved equivalent. Work is expected to begin within 200 days after contract award.
