Description
The Cass County Sheriff's Office seeks one dual-purpose canine, 1–3 years old, that is a Belgian Malinois or German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix. The canine must be trained to detect cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl, and demonstrate proficiency in tracking, area and building searches, article searches, obedience, aggression control, apprehension, and related patrol tasks. The County may approve the offered canine, and the canine must pass a physical examination by a veterinarian selected by the Sheriff's Office; the vendor must provide a health guarantee. The vendor must provide a handler-training curriculum and course outline, conduct handler training at its facility, and include lifetime refresher training there. The vendor must also be available to testify when subpoenaed regarding the canine team's training qualifications. Proposals must include an executive summary, a detailed approach and methodology addressing the scope of work, canine selection and health-certification details, qualifications, at least three references, and pricing. The vendor must have a facility within 60 miles of the Sheriff's Office for handler school, certifications, and annual training.
