Oak Ridge National Laboratory, managed by UT-Battelle, LLC for the U.S. Department of Energy, is soliciting three neutron velocity selector systems: one for the NB-5 GP-SANS instrument and two for the NB-3 Bio-SANS and standby applications. The systems include mechanical components interacting with the neutron beam, electrical drive and control systems, vacuum-compatible housings, rotors, bearings, sensors, cabling, and associated support components. The contractor must analyze, design, manufacture, inspect, assemble, dynamically balance, helium leak-test, package, and ship the systems. Requirements include operation in a vacuum and elevated-radiation environment; specified neutron wavelength, beam-divergence, transmission, and resolution performance; local and remote control; safety interlocks; compatibility with existing control systems; factory acceptance testing; quality assurance; design reviews; technical documentation; maintenance information; spare-parts listings; CAD files; certificates; and shipping plans. Optional or separately priced items may include tilt stages, new lamellae molds, and maintenance training. The pricing worksheet requests one NB-5 velocity selector and two NB-3/standby velocity selectors, with separate unit pricing and totals.
