Description
The Town of Bel Air is seeking a contractual stenographer, or recording secretary, to attend public board, committee, commission, and other municipal meetings or review audio and video recordings. The contractor will document attendance, discussions, motions, votes, decisions, and outcomes; clarify inaudible statements; operate recording equipment as needed; prepare accurate meeting minutes; verify transcripts against recordings; and proofread for spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and formatting. Minutes must generally be produced within six business days or another agreed timeframe and delivered in Microsoft Word format. Public meetings commonly occur in the evenings, beginning around 6:00 PM, and compensation is $22.00 per hour for actual meeting attendance and transcription time, calculated to the nearest quarter hour. Applicants must submit a resume or similar document describing relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, with "Contractual Stenographer" in the email subject line.
