Description
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is conducting a Request for Information to identify eligible organizations interested in administering the Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Farmers Competitive Grant Program. This is not a solicitation for proposals and will not result in a contract; a future Request for Proposals is expected. Eligible administrators include municipalities, public benefit corporations, local development corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. The program has $2,000,000 available, with up to $300,000 available for administration and at least $1,700,000 reserved for farmer grants. The administrator would develop and promote the future grant opportunity, receive and evaluate applications, make awards, execute and administer grant agreements, monitor awardee performance, provide technical assistance, disburse funds on a reimbursement basis, and submit periodic progress reports. Letters of interest should describe the organization's mission, grant or loan administration experience, ability to help applicants secure bridge loans and matching funds, experience with local producers and the target population, requested administrative funding, geographic service area, and comments on anticipated program-administration challenges.
