Description
The National Institute of Food and Agriculture is soliciting applications for the 1890 Institution Teaching, Research, and Extension Capacity Building Grants Program for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. Eligible applicants are the specifically listed 1890 Land-grant Universities. Projects may support education, research, Extension, or integrated activities addressing food and agricultural sciences priorities, including workforce development, agricultural systems, food safety, nutrition, water quality, rural communities, youth development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and other related areas. Grant types include Standard, Collaborative, Professional Development, and Workshop Grants. Projects may run for 12–36 months, with award amounts ranging from $50,000 to $750,000 depending on project and grant type. Applications must include the applicable project summary, project narrative, budget and budget justification, institutional goals and objectives letter, references cited, and other conditional materials such as a data management plan, logic model, mentoring plan, accomplishment report, or collaborative arrangement letters. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov; no other submission method is accepted. No matching requirement applies, although cost sharing is encouraged.
