Description
New York State, through its Regional Economic Development Councils (REDCs), is launching the 2026 REDC Initiative. This program aims to fund high-value regional priority projects by combining capital and tax-credit funding with various state agency programs. The initiative focuses on implementing regional strategic plans to drive economic growth, community revitalization, and business expansion across the state. Funding is available through eight state agencies, including Empire State Development, NYS Canal Corporation, NYS Energy Research and Development Authority, Homes and Community Renewal, New York Power Authority, Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Department of Environmental Conservation, and Department of State. Projects will be evaluated based on their alignment with regional strategic plans, economic impact, community benefits, job creation, and alignment with statewide economic growth priorities. Specific programs include Regional Council Capital Funds, Strategic Planning & Feasibility Studies, Excelsior Jobs Program, Market New York, NY KICKS Program, and various environmental and community development grants. The initiative also emphasizes participation from certified minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses (SDVOBs), with specific goals for their involvement in ESD projects.
