Description
The project involves comprehensive refurbishment of three existing boilers at Wallkill Correctional Facility, including complete retubing, refractory renewal, casing and insulation repairs, restoration of original-equipment-manufacturer gas-path clearances, burner-management and combustion-control retrofits, replacement PLC-based boiler controls, plant master controls, instrumentation, wiring, communications, and commissioning. The work also includes replacement of the deaerator and surge tank, feedwater distribution system, feedwater and transfer pumps, blowdown equipment, steam and condensate piping, pressure-reducing-valve assemblies, water-softening equipment, fuel-oil systems, compressed-air equipment, ventilation equipment, and related electrical systems. The contractor must furnish and operate temporary boiler capacity to maintain continuous steam service during construction, including a second temporary mobile steam plant, temporary piping and utilities, inspections, testing, field-advisor services, and removal of temporary equipment after the permanent systems are accepted. Associated work includes demolition and restoration, electrical-service modifications, generator and power-distribution work, controls integration, concrete pads, site restoration, and asbestos abatement of approximately 1,200 square feet of asbestos-containing material associated with the boilers.
