Description
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment seeks multiple contractors to transport patients with suspected or confirmed Ebola and other highly pathogenic infectious diseases within Kansas and, when needed, to specialty facilities in nearby states. Most trips are expected to originate at the University of Kansas Medical Center, with possible transports to that center or the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Contractors must provide trained EMS personnel, appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies, just-in-time training, infectious-waste handling, and an updated 24/7 point of contact. Proposals must explain the transport approach, personnel competency and training, PPE provision, operating procedures, and waste management. Contractors must have at least three years of relevant experience and provide proof of medical, liability, and property insurance covering patients and their belongings before service begins. The contract is intended for multiple awards, runs for five years from award, and is an indefinite-quantity arrangement with no guaranteed volume. Pricing is requested per mile for in-state and out-of-state transport, with possible annual increases of up to 5% in Years 2–5.
