The San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency (SJAFCA) has approved the Mossdale Tract Area Urban Flood Risk Reduction Project, which covers 22,400 acres including Reclamation District 17 and portions of Stockton, Lathrop, Manteca, and unincorporated San Joaquin County. The project involves construction, operation, and maintenance of flood risk reduction and multi-benefit components along the RD 17 levee system, which includes state-federal project levees on the San Joaquin River and French Camp Slough. Components include fix-in-place improvements with habitat enhancement and revegetation, dryland levee extension, ecosystem restoration, and recreational features.
