Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, through the National Marine Fisheries Service Southeast Fisheries Science Center, is seeking a contractor to conduct field operations targeting giant manta rays in the Mississippi River Delta region. The work includes locating and tracking manta rays, deploying government-furnished satellite tags, collecting biological samples when possible, and producing satellite-tracking and biological-sampling datasets. The contractor must provide a two-person field crew, vessel access or a suitable vessel, unmanned aircraft systems if used for searching, specialized instrumentation, dive and tag-deployment equipment, freediving gear, and other personnel and assets needed for the work. Operations consist of five days during the base period and up to 10 days during each option period, with pricing requested for the base and all options. The quote must include a Data Management Plan of up to two pages and demonstrate the crew's ability to tag mantas from the vessel or while freediving, along with relevant open-water megafauna-tracking experience.
