Description
The contractor will provide a 4.5-day medium-voltage cable splicing and terminating training course for up to eight employees. The course is intended for electricians and technicians who install, maintain, repair, or troubleshoot 5–35 kV systems and must include at least 50% hands-on laboratory exercises in addition to classroom instruction. The contractor must provide certified electrical safety professionals with at least five years of documented field experience working with medium-voltage systems. The contractor must also supply training materials and equipment, including student workbooks, 5–35 kV practice cables, splice and termination kits, hand tools, and a high-potential tester. Training must cover cable construction and applications; taped, molded, cold-shrink, and heat-shrink splices and terminations; withstand testing; failure causes; installation procedures; and applicable OSHA safety requirements. Individual certificates of completion and a final class roster are required after successful completion.
