Description
HeartLands Conservancy is soliciting bids from qualified ecological contractors to restore approximately five priority acres at the Knoll Family Wildlife Sanctuary. Work includes removing invasive trees and shrubs such as Bradford pear, honeysuckle, autumn olive, wintercreeper, and cedar; applying cut-stump herbicide treatments where appropriate; chipping or hauling away cut vegetation; and removing and disposing of woody debris piles. The project is intended to improve sand-prairie habitat for the state-threatened Ornate Box Turtle and Illinois Chorus Frog, and all work must be completed by February 1, 2027. Bidders must submit itemized pricing for Task 1, Task 2, and the entire scope, along with a cover letter, a one- to two-page qualifications overview, resumes or qualifications for key personnel, two or three comparable projects completed within the last five years, and a certificate of liability insurance. Relevant experience with land restoration, invasive species management, threatened and endangered species habitat, and habitat maintenance will be evaluated. Partial bids may be accepted, and the stated acceptable bid range is $10,000 to $20,000.
