Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Directed Energy Directorate is soliciting research and development proposals through the Directed Energy Technology Experimentation Research (DETER) Advanced Research Announcement (ARA). This open announcement, utilizing authority under 10 U.S.C. §4023, covers a broad range of activities including R&D, modeling and simulation, design, prototyping, fabrication, integration, and testing of directed energy sources and systems. The program aims to advance directed energy capabilities for national defense across various domains. Proposals will be evaluated based on technical merit, relevance to AFRL programs, and value/cost. A critical component of the submission process includes a Security Program Questionnaire and a review of the security program and practices of institutions receiving research funding, focusing on physical security, information security, personnel safeguards, and cybersecurity. Awards may be made in various forms, including grants, cooperative agreements, or Other Transactions (OTs).
