Description
The Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG) is requesting Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants and/or firms with experience in transit planning and public involvement. This study, funded by USDOT Neighborhood Access and Equity funds through the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), aims to enhance the transportation systems within the Western Connecticut Planning Region. The region is currently served by three bus transit providers, and the study will evaluate existing systems, networks, and services to identify improvements that will increase transit usage. The consultant will be responsible for tasks including project management, coordination with stakeholders, and implementing a public and stakeholder engagement strategy. Key activities involve conducting an integrated transit diagnostic, analyzing existing conditions, rider profiles, and travel markets, and developing service alternatives and implementation scenarios. The study will focus on identifying feasible, cost-effective improvements to public bus service, which may include route simplification, schedule coordination, transfer improvements, and other actions to enhance the usefulness, efficiency, and customer experience of existing services.
