Description
The University of Iowa is soliciting proposals for an Automatic Passenger Counter (APC) system for its Cambus transit system. This system is intended to enhance operational efficiency, automate dispatch functions, and improve customer service. The solution should include real-time vehicle tracking, automated dispatch, a web-based user interface, and data reporting tools for ridership and operational metrics. The system must also integrate with the existing Transit mobile app and the current IRIS Automatic Passenger Counters. The initial purchase will include hardware for approximately 29-40' heavy-duty buses, 3-30' heavy-duty buses, 7-30' minibuses, and 2 support vehicles, all requiring GPS tracking. The awarded supplier will be responsible for installation and training. The contract may be extended for four additional one-year periods. Bids must be submitted electronically via the eBid system by July 16, 2026.
