Description
Sarasota County is soliciting a contractor to plan and perform the relocation of historical collections from three temporary storage locations to the new Sarasota County History Center. The scope includes artwork, archival records, books, oversized maps and volumes, artifacts, furniture, shelving, film cans, aerial photo cases, archival supplies, and other fragile or oversized objects. The contractor must provide experienced personnel, moving vehicles and equipment, packing and protection materials as needed, transportation, placement of items at designated destinations, shelving disassembly and reassembly, and specialized handling to protect materials from damage, heat, humidity, and security risks. The contractor will also pack certain archival materials, transport and install an approximately 850-pound marble Bertha Palmer stele, obtain necessary permits or street closures, coordinate project scheduling, and provide project management throughout the move. The project is expected to take two to four weeks, with availability between November 2026 and February 2027. Bidders must provide at least two references demonstrating relevant historical-artifact or fine-art moving experience within the preceding seven years. Award is intended for the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest total bid price.
