Kern Community College District is requesting qualifications and cost-based proposals from experienced executive-search and recruitment firms to conduct a comprehensive national search for a permanent Chancellor. The selected firm will advise the Board of Trustees and District representatives; develop the position profile and recruitment materials; conduct national outreach, nominations, advertising, and active recruitment; build a broad, highly qualified, and diverse applicant pool; screen and evaluate applications; and provide candidate summaries and comparative materials. The scope also includes supporting the search committee and Board with interviews, evaluation tools, finalist schedules, stakeholder forums, reference checks, employment and education verification, authorized background review, due diligence, selection, appointment communications, and transition or onboarding as requested. Proposals must address firm and team qualifications, comparable higher-education searches, references, approach and schedule, conflicts and candidate restrictions, cooperative purchasing availability, fees, expenses, optional services, and a placement guarantee of at least 12 months. The firm must demonstrate that the recruitment and selection process can be completed by December 31, 2026, supporting a target Chancellor start date of March 1, 2027.
