Description
The City of Hays is seeking a contractor to provide all labor and materials for a turnkey playground shelter at the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex. The proposed structure may use a wooden pole-barn or metal frame, must have a metal roof, a minimum 16-foot ceiling, and a fully enclosed metal ceiling and interior to prevent birds from nesting. Fabric-top structures will not be considered. The approximately 55-by-55-foot structure must match the existing Southwest Quad structure as closely as possible and comply with the 2015 International Building Code, including a 115-mph wind load and 25-psf ground snow load. The contractor must provide engineered, stamped drawings for the structure and footings, verify measurements and layout, protect existing turf and concrete during installation, and include warranties, wind and snow-load information, exclusions, and all required City-provided items in the bid. The existing structures will be removed by the City, while the contractor is responsible for the new structure's labor and materials. The anticipated project period is November 1, 2026, through February 26, 2027.
