DeKalb County Highway Department is requesting proposals for the development of historical research and educational materials related to Chief Shabbona. The project involves compiling and presenting the history of Chief Shabbona, a Potawatomi chief known for his peacemaking efforts, including his heroic ride to warn settlers during the Black Hawk War. Deliverables may include interpretive signage, brochures, or other educational content to be placed at relevant sites such as the Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve, Shabbona Lake State Park, and the Village of Shabbona.
