Description
The Federal Highway Administration is planning a construction project to rehabilitate approximately three-quarters of a mile of Buck Hill Road, including roadway pulverization, aggregate placement, hot asphalt concrete paving, guardrail replacement, paved ditches, concrete curb and gutter, drainage inlets, culverts, striping, and signage. The project also includes approximately 1,000 linear feet of deep subexcavation to address an existing landslide, with geosynthetic reinforcement and subsurface drainage, and reconstruction and expansion of the Buck Hill Overlook parking lot. Parking-lot work includes pavement removal, embankment and aggregate base placement, asphalt paving, accessible parking, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, striping, signage, trash receptacles, and stone benches. The estimated cost is $5 million to $10 million. Construction is anticipated from April through November 2027, with one base schedule and no options. A paleontological monitor will be present during all ground-disturbing activities.
