This notice announces the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Northern Utah Veterans Cemetery (NUVC) Phase I Development and Master Plan. The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs (UDVMA) is proposing this development on a 100-acre parcel in southern Washington Terrace, Weber County, Utah. The project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through its Veterans Cemetery Grant Program (VCGP). The Draft EA examines the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project, including alternatives considered, and proposed avoidance, minimization, and mitigation measures. The proposed Action Alternative involves the development of approximately 75 acres of the parcel to establish a new veterans cemetery. This Phase I development includes burial areas, memorial and ceremonial spaces, supporting buildings, pathways, parking, and associated infrastructure. The No Action Alternative would involve no construction of the cemetery. The public comment period for the Draft EA ends on July 14, 2026. A hardcopy is also available for review at the Washington Terrace Library, 5568 South Adams Avenue Parkway, Washington Terrace, Utah.
